Dr. Koutsoumbelis attended Tulane University in New Orleans and later medical school at the University of Akron (Northeast Ohio Medical University). He then returned to his native Long Island to complete his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Northshore-LIJ, now known as Northwell Health.
He then went on to complete a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in NYC, the nation’s #1 hospital for Orthopedics.
Dr. Koutsoumbelis is an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon who specializes in both non-operative and operative management of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal conditions. He sees both adult and pediatric patients.
Dr. Koutsoumbelis brings the latest in surgical technology to Long Island. His interests and expertise include:

Dr. Koutsoumbelis is affiliated with the Orthopaedic Surgery Departments at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Winthrop Hospital in Mineola where he is actively involved in the teaching and training of Orthopaedic Surgery residents.
Dr. Koutsoumbelis has contributed to the latest spine literature by way of peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and has presented at multiple national spine meetings. He is an active member of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and North American Spine Society (NASS).
